MAINA WANJIGI SECONDARY SCHOOL
The club is as old as the school and is actively involved in all issues on service to humanity.
The members are well trained on scout skills and attend Funder cerebrations in Nyeri, camping in Rowalan camping site at scout headquarters, competitions and community work outside the school
Soccer and athletics have been the main events however, students have also been practicing and playing friendly matches in volleyball, netball, rugby and basketball.
Soccer: the school so far has qualified for round II play – offs in the school for both boys and girls.
This department is headed by Mr. Barasa assisted by Mrs. Makau. It is a very crucial department because as someone said, “All work without play makes Jack a dull boy.” The school engages in a variety of sports activities which include: football, volleyball, netball a variety of field events and lately even martial art which is spearheaded by Mr. Onyango. As mentioned earlier, Maina Wanjigi Secondary School is one of the top schools in Nairobi County in Boys and Girls Schools’ soccer.
A very active club in the school. It has represented the school in the National Music festival in the two years running.
Other societies include the Y.C.S (Young Catholic Students) which is formed of catholic students with an aim of expanding values within Christianity and the C.U (Christian Union)
This society began in 2010 and all Muslim students are members The society objectives are;- To enhance learning, Look into the discipline of the Muslim students and Cultivate tolerance with other members The members often hold occasional meetings and outings which intend to enhance interaction and acquire knowledge
This is the most active club and is a member of The ICE bio-school Project which was initiated with a view to engaging young people particularly in school set ups in activities that promote environmental conservation and peaceful co-existence.
